March 2-4, 2012  Austin, TX

TWO Seats Left!

To learn more email MPI at sessions@musicpi.com or call us at 615-283-0201.

Radney Foster will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his landmark 1992 solo recording debut Del Rio, Texas, 1959 by recording an acoustic version of the project from top to bottom March 2-4, 2012 in Austin, TX and you're invited to attend. Physical copies of the influential 1992 album have long been out-of-print, so Radney will record a new "unplugged" version of the entire album, plus record new bonus tracks, with his band and co-producer, engineer and bassist Justin Tocket. Steel guitarist and MPI founder Steve Fishell, who co-produced and played steel guitar on the original album, will be on hand to add Dobro and Weissenborn slide to the new tracks.

The 1992 Del Rio album struck a nerve

Radney Foster's seminal album Del Rio, TX 1959 struck a nerve when it was released in 1992, generating hit singles like "Nobody Wins" and "Just Call Me Lonesome" at country radio. But more importantly the landmark Del Rio album inspired countless younger country singers to hone their songcraft, step up to their microphones and make a stand. Rarely has an album influenced as many young artists in the edgy regional Texas music scene and in the mainstream country music world at-large. Texas artists like the Randy Rogers Band, Pat Green, Jack Ingram and Cory Morrow cite Radney Foster as an inspiration, as do mainstream artists like Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and The Dixie Chicks.

But no one looks up to Radney as much as country star -- and former Hootie & the Blowfish frontman -- Darius Rucker.

The title of Darius Rucker’s latest album “Charleston, SC 1966” is a nod to Foster's ground-breaking “Del Rio, Texas, 1959.” "It was his voice,” Rucker said. “I always liked country music, but  I never really knew I could play it. But then I heard Radney and it was like, ‘Wow, that guy’s amazing.’” Everytime I open my mouth, I'm trying to be Radney Foster!"

Attendees for this three-day MPI event will be invited to spend part of their time side-by-side with the musicians right in the studio as they record the album.

"If you are at all interested in what goes on in a recording studio, this is for you." - Radney Foster
